Out This Week: 29 August 2019

When a new Richard Linklater film comes out, it's time to consider rearranging your weekend plans.

Your choices are limited this weekend when it comes to new releases, but when there is a Richard Linklater film, you need to pay attention. Keep Reading to know more.

Where Did You Go, Bernadette

Directed by: Richard Linklater
With: Cate Blanchett, Billy Crudup, Kristen Wiig, and Laurence Fishburne
What is it about: A loving mom becomes compelled to reconnect with her creative passions after years of sacrificing herself for her family. Her leap of faith takes her on an epic adventure that jump-starts her life and leads to her triumphant rediscovery.
Heads Up: Based on a bestselling book, Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, The Before Trilogy, Boyhood) is teaming up with Cate Blanchett for the first time. So even though the reviews are mixed, I am going with my heart on this one.

After the Wedding

Directed by: Bart Freundlich
With: Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore, and Billy Crudup
What is it about: A manager of an orphanage in Kolkata travels to New York to meet a benefactor.
Heads Up: Two of the best actresses working today are teaming up in this remake of the 2006’s Danish melodrama with the same name. That film ended up nominated for an Oscar, but I doubt this one will have the same accolade, because its reviews are tipid. That said, getting the chance to see Moore and Williams acting opposite one another should be a treat in itself. So I probably will end up seeing this one at some point.

Saaho

Directed by: Sujeeth
With: Prabhas, Shraddha Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Jackie Shroff
What is it about: A man uses an arsenal of weapons to battle a gang of heavily armed thugs in the city. With the city under fire and people’s lives at risk, the one man has to give everything he has got to take the city back.
Heads Up: Prabhas, the South Indian  superstar of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion strikes again with one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, and it will be released in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Tamil simultaneously. This action blockbuster looks so big, loud, and silly. I think it is gonna be entertaining.

 Musk

Directed by: Humaid Al-Suwaidi
With: Mohammed Ahmed, Suhail Aljneibi, and Suhaib Abdullah
What is it about: A cynical divorced man tries to reconcile with his 12 year old aloof son.
Heads Up: This is an Emirati drama that has been making the festival rounds. It looks well made, so if you are curious about the local cinema, here is your chance.
