Out This Week: 28 May 2015

Welcome 2 Karachi, San Andreas, Maggie and some generic slasher-horror. What to watch this weekend?

It’s not summer without a disaster film, plus we have a teen horror, a zombie drama, and a Bollywood action comedy, so let see what we have this weekend

San Andreas

Directed by: Brad Peyton
With: Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, and Alexandra Daddario

Heads Up: The story of a massive earthquake that destroys California and a father who wants to save his trapped daughter. Go watch it for Dwayne Johnson and the awesome effects, but don’t expect much of a story, or logic.

Unfriended

Directed by: Leo Gabriadze
With: Heather Sossaman, Matthew Bohrer, and Courtney Halverson

Heads Up:  A  low-budget teen slasher film framed to be seen through a screen of a computer. It couples the teen slasher genre with new social media. It’s an intriguing update for an old genre that we actually are curious, and you should be too. But setting it on a computer screen suggests it should be watched on the computer, doesn’t it?

Maggie

Directed By: Henry Hobson
With: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Abigail Breslin, and Joely Richardson

Heads Up: Arnold plays a father in a post-apocalyptic world taking care of his daughter, played by Abigail Breslin, who is slowly turning into a… ZOMBIE! The film is out for rent already, and though it has mostly mixed reviews we are curious to see Mr. Schwarzenegger in a non traditional role.

 Welcome 2 Karachi

Directed by: Ashish R. Mohan
With: Arshad Warsi, Lauren Gottlieb, Jacky Bhagnani

Heads up: a Bollywood version of the Dumb and Dumber recipe set in Karachi. This is either a train wreck or an awesome thing, and either way we want to see that.
