Some heavy hitters on this Weekend before Christmas

The Weekend before Christmas has some heavy hitters. Unfortunately only one film is a must see, and it’s from Bollywood. Let’s see what Santa brought anyway:

Passengers

passengers

Directed by: Morten Tyldum
With: Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt, Michael Sheen
What is it about? A spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet and transporting thousands of people has a malfunction in its sleep chambers. As a result, two passengers are awakened 90 years early.
Heads Up: Morten Tyldum previous film The Imitation Game won an Oscar and was nominated for several others, but it wasn’t particularly a film I liked. My interest in this film was squarely because of the two leads. The reviews are terrible, but I am still intrigued. If you are a fan of Chris Pratt or/and Jennifer Lawrence, then you aught to check it out, otherwise skip it.

Office Christmas Party

office-christmas-party

Directed by: Josh Gordon, Will Speck
With: Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T.J. Miller, and Jennifer Aniston
What is it about? When his uptight CEO sister threatens to shut down his branch, the branch manager throws an epic Christmas party in order to land a big client and save the day, but the party gets way out of hand?
Heads Up: This all-star comedy was poorly recieved by critics, and didn’t exactly set the box-office on fire, but with such an amazing cast, I think I would check it out if not in cinema, at least when it’s availabe for rental.

Sing

sing

Directed by: Christophe Lourdelet, Garth Jennings
With: Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane
What is it about? A koala named Buster Moon has one final chance to restore his theater to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.
Heads Up: This looks very cute, and it features catchy songs. I also love the premise of a singing talent competition animated. Sign me in!

Dangal

dangal

Directed by: Nitesh Tiwari
With: Aamir Khan, Sakshi Tanwar and Fatima Sana Shaikh
What is it about? Biographical sports drama on former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two wrestler daughters struggle towards glory at Commonwealth Games despite societal oppressions.
Heads Up: Aamir Khan is back with a film that is hailed as one of the best films of the year. This guy is very picky about his projects, but he almost never misses. Here is a film that I can say without reservations it’s a must see!
