Alejandro González Iñárritu is not known for his humor in films. So far his career has been all dark and grim dramas like Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful; thus trying a black comedy is very surprising as he is trying to get one foot out of his comfort zone.
Birdman stars the original Batman aka Michael Keaton as a struggling actor who was once best known for playing the superhero Birdman (to be read as Batman). He hopes to revive his career with a Broadway play while battling his alter-ego and salvage relationships with his family.
