Frozen 2 is leading the pack in a weekend full of hot releases. Keep reading to know more.
Frozen 2
Directed by: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee
With: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Evan Rachel Wood, and Josh Gad
What is it about: Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land. They set out to find the origin of Elsa’s powers in order to save their kingdom.
Heads Up: Six years after the massive commercial and critical success of Frozen, the inevitable and eagerly awaited sequel arrives just in time to its under-served young crowd. The reviews are not quite as strong as the original, but they are good enough to make it the must-see family film of the holidays season.
21 Bridges
Directed by: Brian Kirk
With: Chadwick Boseman, J.K. Simmons, Sienna Miller, Taylor Kitsch, Stephan James, and Keith David
What is it about: An embattled NYPD detective is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy.
Heads Up: Chadwick Boseman first role post Avengers: Endgame is this crime thriller about cops, thieves, and the paranoia of whom to trust. The reviews aren’t favourable, calling this one out for plot-holes and badly written. I’m intrigued but only to catch it at home later.
Last Christmas
Directed by: Paul Feig
With: Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, Emma Thompson
What is it about: Kate is a young woman subscribed to bad decisions. Her last date with disaster? That of having accepted to work as Santa’s elf for a department store. However, she meets Tom there. Her life takes a new turn. For Kate, it seems too good to be true.
Heads Up: From director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat, Spy, A Simple Favor) comes this rom-com with two attractive leads and a great supporting cast. The reviews are mixed to negative, but I am still curious enough, maybe not to buy a ticket in cinema, but most likely for it to come out on home viewing.
Pagalpanti
Directed by: Anees Bazmee
With: Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Ileana D’Cruz, Kriti Kharbanda, Saurabh Shukla
What is it about: A tourist group from India sets out on a vacation to only have their trip to turn into a patriotic mission. Will it end well for them?
Heads Up: The trailer start with the disclaimer “Don’t use your brain, they have none“, and that’s in a nutshell how you should approach any Anees Bazmee film. If you enjoy dumb slapstick ensemble comedies like No Entry, Welcome, and Welcome Back, then this movie is for you.
