This weekend we have the latest film from acclaimed Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, beside the usual slew of smaller films: a romantic comedy, a Hong Kong imported martial arts film, and a Bollywood romantic comedy. So without further ado let’s roll.
Crimson Peak
Directed by: Guillermo del Toro
With: Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, and Tom Hiddleston
Heads up: the story of an aspiring author trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds, and remembers. This is del Toro‘s first film since Pacific Rim, and it looks like a return to his creepy and stylish world. Our critic Faizan Rashid says “it’s very Cinematic, beautiful, and worth seaing on big screen”, and that is why this is my pick for this week.
Before We Go
Directed by: Chris Evans
With: Chris Evans, Alice Eve, and Emma Fitzpatrick
Heads up: Chris Evan‘s directorial day-view, is the story of two strangers stuck in Manhattan for the night of unexpected adventure. The consensus is that its a misfire and a Before Sunrise wannabe, so don’t bother.
Kung Fu Jungle
Directed by: Teddy Chan
With: Donnie Yen, Baoqiang Wang, Charlie Yeung
Heads up: A martial arts instructor from the police force gets imprisoned after killing a man by accident. But when a vicious killer starts targeting martial arts masters, the instructor offers to help the police in return for his freedom. This is a film for men who love Hong Kong martial arts film that has decent reviews, so if you are of the demographic, you should see it.
Wedding Pullav
Directed by: Binod Pradhan
With: Rishi Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, and Upasna Singh
Heads up: The story of two best friends who decided to have their two weddings in the same night, before they discover that they love each other after all and should ditch their respective bride and groom. Watching the trailer was the most painful experience I have had all week, and I plead to you to avoid this garbage at all cost.
