Compared to last weekend, which had the hot Fast & Furious 7 (review), this weekend will be relatively quiet. Let’s see what in store for movie-goers in U.A.E. this weekend!

1. The Cobbler
Cobbler
Directed by Thomas McCarthy.
With Dan Stevens, Adam Sandler, Steve Buscemi, Ellen Barkin.

Storyline: Max Simkin repairs shoes in the same New York shop that has been in his family for generations. Disenchanted with the grind of daily life, Max stumbles upon a magical heirloom that allows him to step into the lives of his customers and see the world in a new way. Sometimes walking in another man’s shoes is the only way one can discover who they really are.

Head’s up: Adam Sandler’s latest film The Cobbler, the story of a cobbler named Max who stumbles upon a magical heirloom that allows him to step into the lives of his customers and see the world in a new way simply by putting on their shoes. A film directed by acclaimed indie director Thomas McCarthy (The Visitor, Win Win), on paper this was supposed to be Sandler’s departure from his usual lowbrow comedies. Unfortunately, it seems this is yet another “Adam Sandler film”. With a miserable 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, you are better off skipping this one.

2. Alien Outpost
Alien Outpost
Directed by Jabbar Raisani.
With Brandon Auret, Adrian Paul, Reiley McClendon, Rick Ravanello.

Storyline: The story of a documentary crew follows an elite unit of soldiers in the wake of an alien invasion.

Head’s up: This is a low budget sci-fi film that did not fare well with critics (18% on Rotten Tomatoes). No need for you to rush to the cinema to watch this one unless you like to watch anything with the word “Alien” in the title!

3. Skin Trade
Skin Trade
Directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham.
With Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, Celina Jade, Dolph Lundgren.

Storyline: After his family is killed by a Serbian gangster with international interests, NYC detective Nick goes to S.E. Asia and teams up with a Thai detective to get revenge and destroy the syndicates human trafficking network.

Head’s up: A B-Movie with an awesome action-movie star-cast: Dolph Lundgren, Toni Jaa, Ron Perlman, and Michael Jai White. With such a cast, nothing really matters. It should satisfy the genre fans.
