In 2011 no one had any hope from the reboot of the Apes franchise Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but it managed to surprise everyone including us at Filmphoria. Andy Serkis as Caesar was a revelation and Rupert Wyatt had followed up the brilliant yet under-seen The Escapist with a massive summer blockbuster.
Soon after a sequel was announced and Caesar was the only returning member from the original cast. The directing throne was given to Matt “Cloverfield” Reeves which is not a bad choice and added to the mix were Jason Clarke, Keri Russell and Gary Oldman.
Just like Rise, Dawn does not get my insides tingling but given the history of the franchise, I could be proven wrong and I wouldn’t mind that.
