As has been proven over the last few years, a superhero making his debut on the big screen via a Marvel Studios film is a great thing for fans and film-lovers in general. After stand-alone films for Iron-Man, Thor and Captain America, the fourth Marvel hero to get his own film is Ant-Man. You don’t need to be too imaginative to guess his powers.
The movie has had its fair-share of rough weather: after five years of development, Edgar Wright left the project for “due to creative differences”, eventually replaced by Peyton Reed. for those who know their directors, this does suggest a big drop in quality. But hey, this is Marvel. They know how to produce a good film.
Ant-Man is the last film of Marvel’s Phase Two, which also includes Avengers: Age of Ultron. Therefore expect it to conclude a story arc that started with Iron-Man 3, while setting up Phase 3.
As the trailer will suggest, this is a heist film and those are almost always fun! Official premise: Thief Scott Lang must aid his mentor Dr. Hank Pym in safeguarding the mystery of the Ant-Man technology – which allows its user to decrease in size but increase in strength – from various new threats, and plot a heist that will save the Earth.
